Hi Mark - thanks so much for emailing back. My mother in law Shirley was your nan's bridesmaid!! I think she has the photo still!! Shirley is now 79. She and her husband George became friendly with Doug and Rene. Actually I tracked Frank down a few years ago (Doug's brother) and had a chat with him but he didn't have much info or interest, I think he sadly passed away too.
I found you using my latest Family Tree software which I was playing with yesterday. It has an option where you can search on ancestry.co.uk on each member of your tree and I pressed a button on Fred Campbell and saw that you had listed him down as dying in 1947 in Salisbury so I rang Shirley to check and she said that was uncle fred's details!
Aunt Alice was very popular and she used to come and stay with Shirley and George. In fact they took her to there 25 wedding anniversary party at a hotel and everyone thought the party was for her birthday. She sounds like she was a great character.
I don't know how much you know about her sister Louisa EAMES nee WEST (I have attached a picture of her) - it was very sad, she died in 1915 after suffering from tb for a long time and her husband Henry died a week later. They left 6 children -
Violet (Shirley's mum),
John (know as Jack) - we had lunch with 2 of his daughter's last Monday,
Chris (his daughter Janet was also at lunch last week),
Ivy (she died young of mathias gravas which left her in an iron lung) - her step daughters Maureen and Audrey became surrogate sisters to Shirley and she she is still in contact, She also had a daughter Ann who lived with Violet when Ivy died but now lives in Australia
Will - the eldest boy who tragically contracted tb in his leg and spent most of his life in a hospital bed and had the most wonderful talent for sketching - Shirley has a book of his sketches which are copies of magazine covers.
Len, (the baby of the family who was taken in by relations in Leicester - we are in contact with his son Alan and daugher Margaret)
Violet being the eldest took the role of mother even though she was only 15 and tried to look after the family with her grandmother - Elizabeth Barford EAMES, Henry's mother. But she was elderly and they couldn't cope so the children were dispersed to homes, relations etc.
One of the most exciting bits of family history I got from Shirley was what we can the Little Black Book. A family bible of sorts. Its what really got me hooked. It was written by an Ann POTTER who was Shirley's ggg aunt and lived in Northampton.
She kept a note of peoples births, deaths and marriages and even an address of one of her grand neices in Camden Town. I started researching her and eventually discovered that when she died in 1893 she was a rich lady -she owned about 14 properties. She dispersed her fortune amongst her sister's - Elizabeth FINALL nee POTTER - childen. Elizabeth Barford Eames, Louisa's mother in law got enough morning to buy 2 houses in Corrine Road, Tufnell Park. Louisa and Henry lived at number 63 and Violet and Shirley were both born there.
I was on Radio 4's Tracing your Ancestors last April talking about the Little Black Book - that was great fun.
I would love to have a chat with you about the family tree - are you UK based? I live in North London. My number is 020 8441 2434. Would it be OK to ring you? If so please lt me have your number and let me know when would be convenient. Any time is good for me - Steve and I work from home
I have so much info on my tree but not very organised.
I have a gedcom but as I am not terribly techie - I have attached it but it is not up to date.and I am not sure if you will be able to open it!! I am sure my tree must be online somewhere and I shall try and hunt for the address.
Anyway, better get your cousins breakfast! Bit of info on us I married Steve - Shirley and George's youngest child in 1984 and we have a 13 year old boy called Christopher.
Kind regards
Eva

Hi Mark
I have just come across your marvellous family tree www.stantonetal.com
We are related to Alice Campbell nee West. Aunt Alice as she was known was the sister of my husband Steve's great grand mother Louisa. Louisa married a Henry Eames in 1899 and had 6 children, one of whom was Violet born in 1902 and her daughter is Shirley b 1928, my mother in law.
I have some photographs of the West/Campbell family and have recently been in touch with Terry Campbell.
I have heard lots of family stories about the American family and would love to swap info with you.
Kind regards
Eva Davies
